Asus EEE PC 1000H

I was very much interested in getting a Netbook after my older Acer TM800 got unusable: they are much more transportable, being very much smaller and lighter, and have way better battery time. I also didn't count on heavy programming, use of virtual machines or other heavy-duty tasks, which I use my desktop for. Trouble was, it was essentially impossible to get either a version with a swiss keyboard, or a Linux variant, and of course both together. So I ended up ordering directly from Switzerland, but had to go for a Windows version. As I was ordering, I got myself both an EEE 1000A and an EEE 901.

The EEE1000 is what I chose for daily use. It's got a rather large hard disk, and the keyboard is large enough for my hands. The battery life is not quite as goot as I had hoped, but it will still last me through half a day - including WiFi.

Since taking the pictures, I replaced Ubuntus default GNOME desktop by Kubuntus KDE, with the plasma-netbook shell, which is specially adapted to the rather small resolution of netbooks.
