I got this machine around the end of my studies - it was rather cheap and specs looked good enough. It came preinstalled with Windows 95 (even if 98 was already available then), but no installation media. Anyway, I was quick to install Debian on there. This laptop served me well until about 2003.

A battered-looking one…

I loved the trackpoint. Shame there's so little use of it these days, and instead they use horrid trackpads…

As the laptop didn't have an inbuild network interface, I had to work with an optional one (PCMCIA):

Desktops weren't quite as heavyweight as today. I personally loved to use the AfterStep window manager, whose look was based on NeXT:
